American Star Books

von resalp (05.03.2014, 18:12)
Hallo Holz

Hello! Thank you for your email.
We have scouts who look for talent, and right now we're zooming in on Brazil. We'll be happy to translate your book into English and publish it in the United States at America Star Books this is all we do.
We obtain the English translation and publishing rights of foreign books and make them available to the U.S. bookseller market. Our books are carried by America's largest book distributor/wholesaler Ingram who makes them available to every bookstore in the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain, including Barnes and Noble, Chapters Indigo, and Waterstone's. Amazon.com also carries our books worldwide.
Our service is totally free. Please let me know if you want me to send you our contract, and you will see with your own eyes that we're not asking you for any money now or later. All we're interested in is your book. We're not paying you an advance. But we do pay regular royalties, as you will see on our website http://www.americastarbooks.com. We issue royalty payments twice per year.
We realize that many foreign authors dream about one day being published in English and in the United States. For you that dream is only one decision away. We are the only publishing company that we're aware of who offers this service with virtually no admission threshold. We have recently contracted authors from Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Honduras, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Armenia, Slovenia, Mongolia, Romania, and China.
We will proudly translate your book, too, and publish it in America.
Thank you,
America Star Books,
Megan Hildebrand

Hello, thank you for your email.
We pay you royalties twice each year, in February and August: 8% of the sales price for the first 500 sold copies, 12% for the next 1,500 copies, 25% for the next 3,000 copies, and after 5,000 copies have been sold: 50%.
We don't pay advances, but we pay for everything else. Royalties are paid in U.S. dollars by check or by PayPal if that's what you'd prefer, twice a year.
We contract the English rights to your book for three years, Your new book will initially be produced in soft cover format, although the opportunity may arise to activate production of an electronic edition.
Please let me know if you are interested in receiving a copy of our contract to review.

Mein Name ist hier nix wert, meine Werke interessieren schon in Europa keinen Menschen - WAS SOLL ICH SCHON DABEI VERLIEREN????

IST DER RECHTLICH OK SO???

von okrim354 (25.04.2014, 00:58)
HIER MAL DER VERTRAG VON AMERICAN STAR BOOKS:

AGREEMENT made this ______April 18, 2014________ between
_______________ICH____________________, (hereinafter called the
Proprietor and/or Author) and America Star Books, P.O. Box 184, Frederick, MD
21705, USA, (hereinafter called ASB, or Publisher) regarding the work
“__________MEIN BUCH________________”
(hereinafter called the Work).

RIGHTS ASSIGNMENT
1: The Proprietor herewith declares to be in full and
unencumbered possession of the foreign rights of the Work, and grants to ASB
the exclusive rights (hereinafter called the said Rights) to translate into the
English language, print, publish and sell, or cause to translate into the English
language, print, publish and sell, the Work worldwide for a term of 3 (three) years
from the date ASB received the material of the Work. The Proprietor agrees to
submit the text and cover files of the Work, in its original language, in electronic
format no later than 14 days upon the date written above.

ROYALTIES
2: ASB will pay the Proprietor for the first 500 copies sold by ASB
on its behalf: 8% (eight percent) of the sales price received by ASB; for the next
1,500 copies sold by ASB on its behalf: 12% (twelve percent) of the sales price
received by ASB; for the next 3,000 copies sold by ASB on its behalf: 25%
(twenty-five percent) of the sales price received by ASB; after 5,000 copies sold
by ASB on its behalf: 50% (fifty percent) of the sales price received by ASB.

3. ASB agrees to render and forward to the Proprietor, in the months of February
and August next succeeding the date of publication of the translated Work, and
thereafter semi-annual statements of account for so long as copies of the
translated Work subject to royalty are sold. With each royalty statement, ASB
shall include payment for any amount due and owing as indicated in the
statement; however, the Proprietor agrees that ASB shall withhold royalty
payments until the amount of royalties payable has reached an aggregate of
forty-nine US dollars. Any amounts withheld shall be retained by ASB until the
end of the royalty period during which publication of the book is discontinued. At
that time, the amount retained shall be paid to Proprietor.

COPYRIGHT
4: ASB agrees that the name of the Author shall appear on the
cover and on the title page of every copy of the translated Work. The original title
of the Work shall appear on the credit page. The copyright of the translation shall
be taken out in the name of ASB.

PROMOTION and EBOOK
5: Sales promotion, advertising and publicity of the
translated Work shall be at ASB's election and discretion as to the extent, scope
and character thereof and in all matters pertaining thereto. ASB may also
distribute, at his discretion, for purposes of publicity and/or review, promotional
information pertaining to said translated Work, to publications throughout the
United States and/or Canada, or elsewhere. Distribution of this promotional
material shall be at ASB’s own cost and expense and to media outlets of ASB’s
own choice. The Proprietor agrees that excerpts of said translated Work may be
included in this promotional information, and agrees, furthermore, that ASB may,
at ASB’s election and discretion, cause to promote the said translated Work, as
designated, in any electronic format, and that ASB shall have the exclusive right
to distribute or cause to distribute, and to sell or cause to sell, at ASB’s election
and discretion, copies of the translated Work in any electronic format, e.g. as an
ebook. ASB agrees to pay to the Proprietor a return as specified in Provision
number 2 of this agreement of the sales price of every copy in any electronic
format that may be sold and for which ASB shall receive payment in money.

COMMUNICATION and PRODUCTION
6: ASB may, at its sole expense and
discretion, contact the Author directly for any purpose. The proprietor shall
provide the Author's full name, current mailing address, current email address,
and current phone number(s) to ASB at the time of the signing of this agreement.

7. ASB agrees to commence production of the translated Work within 365 days
after ASB received the material from the Proprietor. In the event of ASB's failure
to do so, the Rights shall revert to the Proprietor and this agreement shall be null
and void. If, in the opinion of ASB, the Work is unacceptable or unsatisfactory to
ASB, ASB may reject it by sending written notice to the Proprietor at any time
before the translated Work is placed on the market, in which event this
agreement shall be deemed terminated (except as indicated herein), and there
shall be no further obligation upon ASB to publish the Work or to make any
payment.

8. The performance of the terms of this Agreement are personal to the Proprietor
and may not be assigned or transferred in any way without the written consent of
ASB; provided, however, that the Proprietor may assign or transfer (including to
the Proprietor’s executors, administrators and heirs) any monies due, or to
become due to the Proprietor hereunder. The Proprietor hereby agrees that ASB
may assign, sell, lease, license or otherwise dispose of its rights hereunder,
including its right to publish the translated Work as an ebook, in hard cover, soft
cover, and reprint editions or as an extraction, serial, abridgement or book club
selection; ASB may also perform some or all of its obligations hereunder through
contractors.

9. ASB agrees to provide to the Proprietor 1 (one) complimentary copy of the
translated Work.

10. ASB shall have no obligation to pay the Proprietor for any copies of the
translated Work that may be used or distributed for review, publicity, advertising
or promotional purposes, that ASB may deliver to the Proprietor and/or the
Author at a discount from the regular retail price, or that are returned by retailers
or distributors. In the event that ASB pays royalties on copies of books that are
returned by retailers or distributors, ASB has the right to deduct those amounts
from future royalty payments.

11. Should the Author and/or the Proprietor wish to purchase copies of the said
translated Work directly from ASB, ASB agrees to supply the Author and/or the
Proprietor with such copies at a discount of 50% from the regular retail price per
copy. The Author and/or the Proprietor may dispose of these copies in any
manner, and, if re-sold, may retain all monies derived therefrom.

DRAMATIC RIGHTS
12: All compensation received by ASB in exchange for the
dramatic or motion picture rights, whether in Hollywood or anywhere else in the
world, or for radio, television and/or all other dramatic rights in the said translated
Work shall be divided in the proportion of 50% to the Proprietor and 50% to
ASB. Royalties, when applicable, shall be paid at the times indicated in Provision
3.

13. This agreement is entered into by both parties in good faith, with the mutual
understanding that neither party has guaranteed, or is to guarantee, the sale of
any specific number of copies of the translated Work, it being impossible to
predict, before publication, what success any book may attain. The Proprietor
acknowledges that ASB has not made any prior pledges, promises, guarantees,
inducements, of whatever nature, either in writing, by word of mouth, or in any
form, that are not contained in the terms of this agreement, including
representations regarding the appearance of the translated Work. The Proprietor
agrees that ASB, in his sole discretion, may modify, or cause to modify, the Work
during translation into English if in the opinion of ASB this benefits the
marketability of the translated Work. The Proprietor agrees that all matters
dealing with the translation, design, production, sales and publication of said
translated Work shall be at the discretion of ASB.

14. All necessary payments under this agreement shall be made in US Dollars.

15. A waiver of any breach of this agreement or of any of the terms or conditions
by either party hereto, shall not be deemed a waiver of any repetition of such
breach or in any way affect any other terms or conditions hereof; no waiver shall
be valid or binding unless it shall be in writing, and signed by the parties. The
invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability of any provision hereof shall not in any
way affect, impair, invalidate or render unenforceable this Agreement or any
other provision hereof.

16. All unresolved disputes, matters and controversies of any kind and nature
arising from, relating to or involving this agreement (including questions about the
existence, validity, construction, performance, nonperformance, operation, or
breach of the agreement, fraud in the inducement of the agreement, mistakes
relating to the formation of the agreement, and torts committed during the
performance of the agreement), including claims against employees, agents,
representatives, officers, directors and/or attorneys of ASB, shall be submitted, if
at all, to a court in the State of Maryland. This agreement shall be governed and
construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland. This clause
shall survive the termination of this agreement.

17. The Parties acknowledge that they are free to sign this Agreement
electronically, that ASB is authorized to send this Agreement to Proprietor in two
separate files, including a pdf file containing the body of the Agreement and ASB’s signature and a Word/WordPerfect file containing the Proprietor’s signature line, and that this Agreement shall be comprised of both files.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto set their hands and seal the day first above written.

Status Update

von dirkhansen (24.06.2014, 14:38)
Hallo zusammen,

http://www.amazon.com/Everything-Else-D ... 1611024730

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/everyth ... 1611024739

Dirk

Hallo Dirk,

und vielen Dank fürs Feedback.

Hatte schon gedacht, dieses Thema sei hier gestorben...

Wie läufts denn? Haste schon Bücher in engl.

Gruss Bruno
PS: Dein kostenloses Probeexemplar schon erhalten?

Abrechnung ASB

von dirkhansen (27.06.2014, 10:20)
Hallo,
