Mehr erfahrenThis book deals with questions on the self from an interdisciplinary point of view including decidedly divergent perspectives from different philosophical approaches to the Altered Self and Altered Self-Experience such as “neuro”-philosophies, philosophy of emotion, philosophy of psychiatry, phenomenology besides approaches from developmental psychology, mindfulness praxis, as well as religious studies, cinema and literature studies.
ASASE is the result of a selection of research papers of the project “Cognitive Foundation of the Self” with contributions of international scholars who mainly presented and discussed their work at the international workshop "Altered Self and Altered Self Experience" organized by Alexander Gerner (CFCUL) and Jorge Gonçalves (IFILNOVA) held at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH-UNL) at the institute of philosophy IFILNOVA on the 30th and 31st of May 2013 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Alexander Gerner (Hrsg.)
Alexander Gerner is a theatre-maker and currently a Post-Doc researcher in philosophy at the Center for Philosophy of Science of the University of Lisbon (CFCUL) with a FCT grant on >Philosophy of Cognitive Enhancement< (SFRH/BPD/90360/2012). He is head of the research line >Philosophy of Human Technology<. In 2012 he received his PhD in History and Philosophy of Science at the Science Faculty of the University of Lisbon with a thesis on >Philosophical Investigations of Attention<. He is author of theater-plays such as >Trance< (1997), >Zap Through my Life< (1999), >Cut< (1999), >Os Cães< (2011) and co-editor of books such as „Abduction and the Process of Scientific Discovery“ (Lisbon 2007); „Diagrammatology and Diagram Praxis“ (London 2010). „Altered Self and Altered Self Experience“ (2014).
Jorge Gonçalves (Hrsg.)
Jorge de Almeida Gonçalves was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on the 25th of April 1960. He graduated in Psychology (1988) and Philosophy (1997), both in Lisbon. He has a Masters degree in Philosophy (2002) and a PhD (2007) also in Philosophy. Between 1988 and 1999 he worked in Clinical Psychology. He currently works at Institute of Philosophy of Language (New University of Lisbon) and his current research interests are Consciousness and Self Studies, Philosophy of Psychology, Philosophy of Psychiatry, and Philosophy of Film.
