Why Vermeer?

Susanne Husemann's pictures touch upon narratives. It could be the stories of the women that modeled for Vermeer. It could also be other stories, those whose secrets want to be preserve. What does that letter say? Where does the string of pearls come from, and from whom? To whom is the Girl with the Pearl Earring turning, from whom is she turning away?
Susanne Husemann knows that these questions are immaterial. An explanation would wipe away the magic, and it would never be sufficient or satisfactory. Vermeer's crime scenes remain untouched, the possible acts of violence remaining unpunished. It is this disquiet in the quiet that one must endure. The face without eyes, the incomprehensibility of the time that passes. And it reveals that no destructive power is sufficient to affect the indestructible. Images of a nameless obsession.
