Beschreibung

One of the largest POW camps in the German Reich during World War II, Stalag VII A, was located in Moosburg an der Isar. Built in the fall of 1939 for 10,000 prisoners, it housed some 70,000 soldiers from numerous nations on April 29, 1945, the day of liberation. The booklet covers various aspects of the prisoners' lives and the camp itself.

Autor/in

Dominik Dr. Reither

Dr. Dominik Reither, M.A., Dipl. Jur., born in 1979 in Moosburg a.d. Isar, studied law, history and political science in Regensburg and Aberdeen. In 2008, he received his doctorate on a topic related to the history of science.

After completing his legal clerkship in Regensburg and passing the 2nd state law examination, he has been working as a judge and public prosecutor in Landshut since 2009.

Dominik Reither is a lecturer at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences as well as an instructor at the Volkshochschule Moosburg and the Katholisches Kreisbildungswerk Freising e.V.. In addition to the history of Moosburg, he is primarily concerned with the Stalag VII A prisoner of war camp and the Moosburg internment camp.
